Struggling to create the best research paper
I do not think I am alone when I admit to fellow English teachers that I do not look forward to teaching the research paper to my freshman high school students. Each year I taught the required research unit, which has included the I-Search as well as the traditional research paper, I was frustrated with the outcome. Plagiarism, the use of random facts, disorganization of the paper, and student apathy topped the list of problems.

Building on Macrorie's work, other teachers have found ways to bring more authenticity and greater pleasure to the research paper. The main point of the library research paper is to learn more about a topic relevant tothe course and write down what you have learned in an organized, readable fashion. Unlike a book report, it does not involve primarily reading a work andgiving your own opinion of it. It does involve to read criticism (scholarly analyses) and related sorts of scholarship such as literary,art, or music history and biography. Of course, you will want to read, view, or listen to theworks which are the focus of your topic: one would not write a paper about without reading Butyou are responsible for studying the scholarship aswell.A research paper follows standard compositional (essay) format. It has a title, introduction, body and conclusion. Some people like to start their research papers with a title and introduction, while others wait until they've already started the body of the paper before developing a title and introduction. Often you make a judgment, or just explain complex ideas to the reader. The length of the research paper depends on your teacher's guidelines.
